Protest against Jal Shakti Deptt over shortage of water

RAJOURI, June 28: The residents of Ward No. 2 of Rajouri City today held protest demonstration against the shortage of drinking water.
They shouted slogans against the Government, District Administration and Jal Shakti department and expressed strong anger over shortage of water in the area.
Nasreen Begum, Azad Ahmed, Noreen Kosar and others who were leading the protest said that for the last several days water is not coming properly from the water pipes in their ward. Either the water does not come for many days and when it comes occasionally, the pressure is very low. The situation is that people have to protest for drinking water even on arrival of festivals.
They added that due to the negligence of Jal Shakti Department, the people were facing many problems. The protesters told that drinking water has to be brought after traveling several kilometers on foot. The officials of Jal Shakti Department have been informed about this problem not once but many times, but the problem is not being resolved by them till now. They sought intervention of District Administration into this urgent matter.
