Woman killed, four others injured in road accident

JAMMU, June 28: A woman died while four others suffered injuries when a commercial vehicle they were travelling in turned turtle on Akhnoor-Chowki Choura Road here today.
Police said driver of a tempo traveller (JK21-7081), on way towards Rajouri from Jammu District, lost control over the vehicle near Shoyara Morh near Tanda Area on Akhnoor-Chowki Choura Road stretch, resulting in injuries to five people.
Soon after the accident, they said, the injured were shifted to a local hospital for preliminary treatment, from where they were later referred to Government Medical College Jammu for advanced treatment.
Unfortunately, one woman identified as Gurpreet Kour (30) wife of Sukhvinder Singh of Poonch was declared as dead on arrival by the team of doctors at the Medical College Jammu while four others identified as Fayaz Ahmed (23) son of Iqbal of Poonch, Neelam Sharma (52) wife of Subash Sharma of Poonch, Agrim Raina (23) son of Subash Sharma of Poonch and Aruhi Sharma (6) daughter of Rakesh Kumar, suffered injuries in the accident. Their condition was stated to be stable when the last report poured in.
Meanwhile, police have shifted the body of the deceased woman to the mortuary of the Government Medical College Jammu for conducting the post-mortem while a case under sections 279, 337, and 304(A) of the IPC stands registered at concerned police station and further investigation taken up.
