UDHAMPUR, June 29: Three domestic animals and a pet dog were charred to death when a Kaccha house and animal shed caught fire at Kotli Bala, around five kms from Udhampur town.

Reports said that fire broke out this afternoon at the house of Zulfi Ram, son of Munshi Ram of Panchayat Kotli Bala. Even as SHO Udhampur Raghuvir Singh and his Police team as well as Naib Tehsildar Sham Singh swung into action along with fire extinguishing team, it took them around two hours to reach the spot as traffic was closed on Salmay Bride and there is no alternative route to reach the village.
By the time fire extinguishing teams could reach the spot and douse the flames, the entire house got completely gutted in the fire. One cow, a calf, a buffalo and a pet dog were charred to death in the fire.
The local villagers have appealed the Government to provide immediate relief to poor Zulfi Ram, whose house along with all the belongings were gutted in fire.
