JAMMU, June 20: Irate over eight hours cut by PDD and failure of PHE to provide regular water supply in Jammu city and its outskirts, the workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena Bala Sahib Thakray took out a protest rally from Sabzi Mandi to main bazaars of Jammu city, which concluded at City Chowk.
Addressing the activists, Ashok Gupta said, “it is baffling me that despite announcing enhancement of 32 lakh unit of electricity for Jammu Region by the Government, why there are eight hours cut in Jammu city and 10 hours in rural areas”.
Moreover, the increase of water tariff from Rs 260 to Rs 800 by PHE and electricity tariff by 20% by PDD has added fuel to fire.
Gupta said when the people of Jammu are paying electricity tariff according to meters and also Chief Engineer, PDD, had made commitment to provide 24 hours power supply to the people of Jammu, then why is he breaking his promise?
He also expressed surprise over the recent statement of Chief Minister in which he did not utter a single word over the non-availability of electricity and water.
