Veteran Trade Union leader Sampath Prakash passes away

SRINAGAR, July 1: A veteran Trade Union leader, Sampath Prakash breathed his last today due to cardiac arrest.
Confirming his death, a top official at SKIMS, Soura said that the veteran Trade Union leader was brought dead to the hospital and his body has been kept in mortuary here.
Soon after the news of his death broke, condolences poured in from various quarters including politicians, trade bodies and others.
Known as a pillar of trade union movement in J&K, Sampat Prakash has led various movements along with Abdul Majid Khan the then president All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation for cause of working class. He was also suspended and jailed during emergency but he continued to fight for the working class till his last breath.
Various social, political and trade union leaders have expressed their profound grief and sorrow over his demise. Mir Ghulam Rasool Rajpoura president LPDEF Kashmir, Mir Gulam Rasool Batwani president People’s Welfare Society and a Trade Unionist termed his demise a great loss to trade Union movement in the UT. They recalled his struggle of five decades to the working class movement in J&K and fostering Hindu -Muslim brotherhood.
