DPAP Displaced Wing highlights problems of migrants

JAMMU, July 1: The Leaders of Kashmiri Displaced People Wing Democratic Progressive Azad Party held a meeting here, today wherein the burning problems of displaced Kashmiri people including of PM package employees were discussed.
The meeting demanded immediate settlement of genuine demands. It said the administration as well as Relief Rehabilitation Commissioner should get the order of charging electricity bills from migrant camp people revoked at an earliest as has been assured by the district administration and Relief Commissioner in a joint table meeting with the Action Committee of camps.

It demanded that the period of absence during protest period of PM Package employees due to target killings be considered to have been condoned for adjustment of leave as they were forced to remain absent from duties due to life threat in Valley. A comprehensive life risk cover insurance policies for the package employees to more than Rs.40.00 lacs is the need of hour, with bearing premium of policies by the Government. It said a list of candidates have been approved for appointment as Class Fourth to the tune of 120 candidates under PM package category as their necessary verifications and documents stand also obtained during March-April,2023 out of waiting lists among previous appointments, but up till now the list is pending in Revenue and Relief Secretariat, which is requested to be issued as these candidates have been waiting eagerly for the same.
Further the leaders demand that the cadre of PM package employees be brought at par with the UT Government employees, so that these employees can get rid off from the step-motherly treatment at each stage of their services.
The leaders demanded that the Transit accommodations be allotted to the package employees at an earliest and till then a lump sum rent be paid to the employees who are living in rented accommodations, and are not able to pay monthly rental charges to the tune of more than Rs.5000/- PM.
