SRINAGAR, Dec 12: Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir Prof Talat Ahmad –a fellow of all the three Science Academies in India and a recipient of several national and international awards and honours, has been conferred the prestigious “Dr. S M Naqvi Gold Medal” by the Geological Society of India (GSI) for his distinguished academic and research career in Geosciences.
Prof. Talat Ahmad could not receive the award, comprising of gold medal and citations, at the award ceremony held at the Indian School of Mines, Dhanabad as he was abroad. However, the award was formally handed over to Prof. Talat today at a felicitation function held at the Gandhi Bhavan, KU.
On behalf of the Society, Dean Academic Affairs KU Prof AM Shah read the citation and presented the Gold Medal to Prof Talat Ahmad at the function which was attended by Deans of several faculties, Heads of various departments, Directors of various institutes/ research centres of KU and senior administrative officers of the varsity.
