One held as hit-and-run case solved

JAMMU, July 3: Police claimed here today that they have solved a hit-and-run case by arresting one person.
They said that information was received at Police Station Satwari through reliable sources that at Rohi Morh, one vehicle hit six ladies, resulting in grievous injuries to them.
Locals shifted the injured to a nearby hospital where one of them succumbed to her injuries, police said.
On this, a case was registered under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Satwari and investigation taken up, they said.
During investigation, special police teams of Police Station Satwari led by SDPO South Sachit Sharma, assisted by SHO Satwari Inspector Sumeet Sharma, with the help of CCTV footages of the area detained the accused person identified as Sandeep Sharma of RS Pura, who confessed to his involvement in the case.
On his disclosure, the vehicle involved in the crime was also seized, police said.
Further investigation is on, they added.
The overall operation was conducted under the supervision of SP South Shaheen Wahid.
