THIMPHU, Dec 13: About 100 Buddhist nuns from Bhutan and other countries will discuss ideas to increase their participation in religious and civic life at the first Buddhist nuns conference this week.
The event will be hosted by Bhutan Nuns Foundation from December 14 to 16 in Paro, at a distance of 50 km from capital Thimphu.
The conference is dedicated to provide platform to discuss roles and responsibilities of nuns in the post-modern world through exchange of ideas and best practices around the world to empower them, according to the foundation.
The programme is aimed to increase their informed and active participation in both their religious and civic life, it said.
The opening ceremony will be held on December 14 under the patronage of current Queen Mother of Bhutan Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck.
Noted Tibetan Buddhist nun Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo will also attend the conference. (AGENCIES)
