Sex racket busted in Baramulla; 6 arrested

Srinagar, July 5: The police in Baramulla today busted a sex racket and arrested six individuals including two women for their involvement in immoral activities.
Police received information through reliable sources that some persons were involved in immoral activities in a rented house near Bus Stand Baramulla.
Acting upon the information, a police party led by SHO PS Baramulla, under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla, dismantled the prostitution racket.
“The racket was run by a tenant identified as Lateef Ahmad Chechi, son of Mohammad Younis Chechi, a resident of Malangam Bandipora. Additionally, Altaf Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar, a resident of Kralhar Baramulla; Khurshid Ahmad Chechi, son of Abdul Rashid Chechi, a resident of Malangam Bandipora; Manzoor Ahmad Khan, son of Saifuddin Khan, a resident of Qazi Hamam Baramulla; and two female sex workers were also detained,” the police said.
A Case under FIR No.136/2023, encompassing relevant sections of the law, has been registered at Police Station Baramulla, and further investigation has been initiated.
The police have urged people to ensure tenant verification before renting out houses, rooms, or shops.
