JAMMU, July 5: Two persons were arrested with heroin-like-substance from Bishnah Town here today, officials said.
They said a party of Police Station Bishnah established a naka at Sakinderpur, Bishnah for checking/frisking of the vehicles and pedestrians.
During checking, the police party signalled an auto but the driver tried to escape on seeing the police. He was, however, overpowered by the alert jawans, officials said.
“During search of the auto driver and another person travelling in the vehicle, 5 grams of heroin-like-substance was recovered,” said officials.
Police identified the accused as Rohit Massi of Gurdaspur, Punjab at present Chatha, and Vishal Saini of Arnia at present Chatha.
Both have been booked in case FIR number 160/2023 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Bishnah and further investigation taken up.
The entire operation was carried out by a team of Police Station Bishnah led by SDPO RS Pura Nikhil Gogna assisted by SHO Bishnah Inspector Vikram Sharma under the overall supervision of SSP Jammu.
