JAMMU, Dec 13: Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (DFSS) today took out a procession from Rani Park here to City Chowk against the power curtailment. The protest was led by DFSS president, Ashok Gupta.
Carrying electric heaters and other electric equipments in their hands, the workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena were raising slogans against Power Development Department (PDD) for excessive power cuts.
Addressing the protestors, Gupta said that National Conference, president, Omar Abdullah, who is also Chief Minister of State, and is heading the PDD, always announces in his public meetings that there is a deficit in the revenue collection of electricity despite the fact that his Party’s office in Srinagar owes Rs 11.49 lakh to Power Development Department.
Though the Government has announced enhancement of 32 lakh units of electricity and even purchase of additional units of electricity for Rs 200 crore for the State, yet people are facing continuous cuts in Jammu City and rural areas, he added.
When the people of Jammu are paying tariff according to the meters, then why the PDD  is not giving 24-hrs power supply, he questioned.
