Explosives seized in Gandoh

JAMMU, Dec 13: Para-military Shastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Gandoh police today busted a hideout of the militants in Doda district and recovered a consignment of explosives and ammunition from the hideout.
Reports said the jawans of 42 battalion of SSB and Gandoh police today conducted a joint search operation at village Dhilkunal in Gandoh area of Doda district this morning after developing an information about an old dump of explosives and ammunition lying in a hideout there.
The joint team effected the recoveries, which included one Chinese grenade, one HE grenade, one Chinese pistol with one magazine and 26 live rounds, 44 rounds of Self Loading Rifles (SLR), one magazine and 29 live rounds of AK-47 rifle.
There has been no report of movement of the militants in Gandoh area of Doda district for the past quite sometime. Prior to end of militancy, the area used to be frequented by the militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Sources said the explosives and ammunition might have been earlier hidden by the militants but they couldn’t pick up the consignment.
