Rekha for cultivation of millets by farmers

JAMMU, July 8: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district president, Jammu South, Rekha Mahajan today chalked out a strategy to promote the cultivation of millets to strengthen the economic condition of small and marginal farmers.
She was holding an interactive session with the farmers at Babliana Panchayat near here. The programme was organized by BJP Mahila Morcha in coordination with Kunjwani Mandal of the party. Rekha Mahajan along with Mandal president, Kunjwani, Ranjit Singh, Mahila Morcha district president, Divya Jain, district vice president and Prabhari Kunjwani, Mandal, Shalu Gupta, district secretary, Pumi Choudhary, Morcha Parbhari. Amit Sharma, Meetu Sharma, Sangeeta Sharma, Poonam, Rajni Gupta honoured the farmers on the occasion. On the successful nine years of Modi-led Government, the BJP Mahila Morcha is celebrating this month as Millets Month.
Rekha Mahajan said the Central Government is making swift efforts to enhance the production, yield, processing, and consumption of Millets in the country. Rekha highlighted the nine years of PM Modi and farmers welfare schemes launched by his Government.
She said it is important to acknowledge the numerous farmer welfare schemes that have been introduced to empower and uplift the agriculture sector. Rekha asserted that under PM Modi’s leadership, these initiatives have aimed to improve the lives of farmers by providing financial security, skill development, market access, and sustainable agricultural practices.
Rekha said that the Modi-led Government delves into nine significant farmer welfare schemes introduced by the Government and examines their impact on farmers across the country. She said millets are climate resilient and can be grown in less water and with minimal use of fertilizers and pesticides. She said that there are multiple health benefits of consuming millet as it is nutritious.
