UDHAMPUR, July 8: A special awareness session on the Right to Information (RTI) Act was organized at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) for the Probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police who are currently undergoing a one-year Basic Induction Course.
The Session was aimed to educate and inform the officers about the significance of the RTI Act and its relevant provisions.
Monika Kohli, Additional Advocate General of Jammu and Kashmir/Ladakh High Court, was invited as the guest faculty for the awareness session. The event commenced welcome address presented by Rajinder Kumar Gupta, SSP and Deputy Director (Indoor, Training) of SKPA. He provided a brief introduction about the Probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police and their comprehensive training curriculum.
During the interactive awareness session, Monika Kohli provided a comprehensive overview of the RTI Act, emphasizing its importance and discussing relevant sections. She also highlighted the do’s and don’ts for Government officers and Public Information Officers (PIOs) while providing information under the RTI Act. Furthermore, Kohli shed light on the provisions of penalties for non-submission and delayed submission of information under the RTI Act.
The Session witnessed active participation from the Probationary Officers, who raised various queries. These queries were collectively addressed by Monika Kohli and Rajinder Kumar Gupta, SSP. The faculty members of SKPA were also present at the awareness session, further enriching the discussions.
The event successfully enhanced the understanding of the Probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police regarding the RTI Act and equipped them with valuable knowledge to ensure transparency and accountability in their future roles.
