DODA, June 20: The District Development Board Doda, which met here today under the chairmanship of Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture Sham Lal Sharma, approved Rs. 96.46 crore district annual plan (2012-13) for Doda district with Rs 55.50 crore capital component and Rs. 40.96 crore revenue component.

Sharief Niaz, MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani, MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar, MLA Inderwal G.M Saroori, MLCs Khalid Najib Sohrawardy, MLC Naresh Gupta, District Development Commissioner Doda Farooq Ahmed Khan besides Heads of various Departments, Chief Engineers, District and Sectoral officers attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sham asked the functionaries to adopt people friendly approach in the implementation of the developmental and welfare schemes.
He said that the Government was committed to provide better facilities to the people in every nook and corner of the state for which the centre is providing liberal funding under various schemes and programmes.
Listing various roads and other projects taken up across the district, Mr. Sham said that like elsewhere in the state, massive road connectivity programme has been launched with a view to accelerate economic activities in the hilly areas like Doda District.
The Minister stressed upon the need for bringing in more accountability and transparency in timely utilization of funds and completion of the ongoing projects within a stipulated time frame. He said that Coalition Government was fully aware of the people’s problems living in hilly and remote areas and it was making all out efforts to mitigate them. He said better provision of road connectivity, safe drinking water, healthcare, education, besides exploitation of agriculture potential and its allied sectors, including horticulture tops the agenda of the Government.
Mr Sham said that suggestions from the elected local representatives and Sarpanchs , Panchs and people at large would prove of great help to develop and strengthen the key sectors in the District. He said effective implementation of developmental schemes was not possible without the active participation of Panchayati Raj Institutions and added that involvement of Sarpanchs and Panchs must be ensured in the planning and implementation of infrastructure development and beneficial schemes.
District Development Commissioner, Doda, Farooq Ahmed Khan apprised the meeting about the physical and financial achievements recorded under district plan 2011-12.
