4 killed in two mishaps

JAMMU, Dec 14: Four persons died in two separate road accidents in  Samba and Jammu today while two persons were injured.
Three persons were killed and two others were injured when a matador bearing registration No. JK14B-5762 hit a Stationary bus bearing registration No. JK14-4311 near Balode at Samba -Mansar road this morning. Both were on their way from Mansar to Samba, Police said.
The bus had stopped on the road to drop the passengers and the matador who tried to overtake the bus hit it resulting in the death of three passengers and injury to two others.
The locals and police rushed the injured to District Hospital Samba where the doctors declared three of them as brought dead while the two were admitted for treatment. The dead were identified as Kewal Singh (42), son of Late Amar Singh  of village Balode, Krishan Chand (27) son of Gouri Shanker of village Mananu and the identity of third dead person could not be ascertained till last reports came in.
The injured were Kaku Ram (27), son of Sindoor Singh of village Channi Mansar and Divya (20) daughter of Ramesh Singh resident of village Battal. Kaku Ram was later referred to GMC Jammu for treatment as his condition deteriorated while Divya is under going treatment at District Hospital Samba.
The driver of the matador fled from the spot. The police has seized the vehicle. The people of the area have demanded cancellation of the license of the matador driver.
Samba police has registered a case in this connection for  investigation. The bodies were handed over to their families after legal formalities.
In another incident a pedestrian was killed at Fly Over near St Peter’s School in here this morning when he was hit by a rashly driven bus.
He has been identified as Vicky Kumar S/O Sat Paul Bhagat of Makwal in Flain Mandal area of Jammu, tehsil. Police said that Vicky was working in GMC Canteen and was on way to duty at the time of accident. The bus bearing number JK02F 8927 was coming from Bikram Chowk. However the driver of the bus managed to escape. The Nawabad police has registered a case and seized the bus. The dead body has been kept at GMC mortuary for postmortem which will be conducted on Monday police added.
