Farmers sensitized on HADP, financial help for fruit plants

AKHNOOR, July 11: While ensuring holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors in Jammu and Kashmir, Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak, educated farmers on various schemes and financial assistance to the farmers for growing fruit plants during Kissan Samparak Abhiyan at village Narayana in Khour block of Jammu district.
The programme was attended by Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu Ashwani Sharma, Horticulture Development Officer Khour Amit Saraf, many PRI members and farmers of the adjoining area.
While speaking on the occasion, Director Horticulture elaborated on the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) providing incentives assistance for the welfare of the farming community.
He sensitize the gathering about the main components of the programme viz: DAKSH- Learning Management System related to skill development, SATHI Dashboard to apply online for different Govt schemes, etc. He appreciated the efforts of the Mangla Rai Committee for framing such a programme covering every aspect of the farmer related issues in the scheme and also encouraged farmers to come forward for availing incentives under the programme.
The Director started the plantation drive by planting a sapling of Citrus plant and Mango plant for compact plantation in a farmers’ field at village Lower Narayana and Pallanwala, respectively of Khour block covering an area of 100 kanals.
Later, he addressed the huge public gathering of 200 farmers including women at village Indri of Khour, wherein he briefed them about HADP providing incentives/ assistance for the welfare of the farning community. He also urged farmers to adopt integrated farming in their fields and avail the benefits on different components viz: bore well, water harvesting tanks, drip irrigation, mechanization, protected cultivation, tools and implements etc. for upliftment of their socio- economic status.
