JAMMU, July 12: Senior BJP leader and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Councillor of Ward number 69, Gurmeet Kour Randhawa here today started construction work of tiles and drains in Sector-A of Sainik Colony.
The work shall be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 22 lakh. Speaking on the occasion, Randhawa said that construction of drains in the locality was a long pending demand which has been fulfilled today and completion of the work will give relief to the people from rain water.
“Many deep drains were constructed during the last four years to prevent damage to roads and houses during monsoon,” she maintained.
The senior BJP leader said that polythene bags block drains and culverts and appealed residents of the Ward follow the advisory of JMC in purchasing carry bags of cellulose and starch and avoid use of polythene in daily life.
She informed that JMC under revolutionary leadership of Mayor, Rajinder Sharma is organizing a lot of events to promote eco-friendly developments in Jammu under Smart City Project.
Capt Prem Singh (retired)-a prominent resident of the Ward also spoke on the occasion.
