JAMMU, July 14: Hindi Sahitya Mandal today released a Hindi translation book of plays, titled ‘Vishavnagrik Ke Natak’, written in Punjabi by S Drvinder Singh Vishavnagrik and translated by S Manjeet Singh Kaamra.
The book was released during a function at K L Saigal Auditorium in Cultural Academy, Jammu. Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, former Additional Secretary JKAACL, was the chief guest whereas Dr Nirmal Vinod, a renowned poet & writer, presided over the programme. Dr Chanchal Dogra, President, HSM-J and S Manjeet Singh Kaamra shared the dais. A large number of intellectuals and writers attended the programme.
The programme started with the formal welcome address by Dr Chanchal Dogra, President, HXM-J. Two papers on the content and critical evaluation of the released book were presented by Rajeshwar Singh Raju and Deepak Kumar.
It may be mentioned that S Drvinder Singh Vishavnagrik has started writing poetry from the very young age. He has contributed many books of poetry and prose as well as authored twelve Punjabi plays.
While speaking on this occasion, Dr Nirmal Vinod said that there is lack of playwrights in the literary circles of the region. He said that by translating the Punjabi plays in Hindi would widen the scope of sharing such creations. He added that there should be healthy interaction between all the languages in practice in this region of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. He appreciated S Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, M S Kaamra and HSM-J for contributing in this regard.
In his address, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn complimented all the concerned for exchanging the literary creations in various languages. He said that joint efforts are needed by all the organizations working for the development of different languages to come together and organize joint programmes of languages.
S Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, M S Kaamra and Dr Chanchal Dogra also expressed their views.
Proceedings of the programme were conducted by Manto Dutta Sharma, Executive Member of HSM-J. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Jang S Verman, Publicity Secretary, HSM-J.
