JAMMU, July 14: In what could be called as a simple but very far reaching activity on building sustainable rural economy, the members of International Economic Forum of Commerce & Industry (IEFCI) in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Police under the supervision of SSP Poonch Vinay Sharma conducted a day long awareness camp on highlighting various issues related with the livelihood, sustainability and overall well-being of residents in Sawjian village of district Poonch.
The speakers highlighted the value of certain medicinal, edible and aromatic plants in the area having immense potential from industrial point of view and appreciated the local populace for sharing traditional knowledge in this aspect.
The speakers highlighted the need to revive cottage industries in the area and informed the gathering that Gandhian Centre from University of Jammu has also shown keen interest in this regard. It is high time to initiate plant based research in this area so that scope for establishing local industries can be explored.
At last the J&K and Ladakh president, Dr Nitan Sharma, J&K vice president Adv Sanjeev Sharma and National Advisor Adv Bhanu Partap on behalf of the National president Dr Shruti Bist Advocate on Record Supreme Court & President, IEFCI extended their heartfelt gratitude to SI Anil Sharma and Sarpanches, Panches and youth for organizing and making this interaction successful that has the potential to change socio economic landscape of the region.
