JAMMU, July 17: To mark the 75 years of India’s Independence, CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM) Jammu has launched the week-long celebrations of National Intellectual Property Festival-NIPF (Rashtriya Boudhik Sampada Mahotsav).
On first day of celebration today, one-day IP Pharma Conference was organized at main campus of the Institute which was attended by scientists, technocrats, scholars and students.
While delivering the keynote address, Dr Vibha Malhotra Sawhney, Head of Technology Management Directorate (TMD) and Innovation Protection Unit (IPU), CSIR highlighted the importance of different type of IP’s, trends of patents filed and granted in India in the last 5 years.
Dr Mahendra B Thakre, AVP and Senior Legal Counsel, Viatris, Hyderabad delivered a detailed session on ‘Unveiling the Power of Safeguarding Inventions through Intellectual Property Rights’ while Dr Lipika Patnaik, Principal Scientist, CSIR- Innovation Protection Unit (IPU), delivered an online lecture on the requirements of patentability.
Dr Kokkirala Tejkumar, IP Lead, BDR group of companies Baroda, Gujarat, mentioned the importance of lead compound identification while invalidating a product patent in USA.
Around 280 participants inclusive of Scientists, Technical Staff, Research Scholars and Project Staff physically participated in this event while 380 participants attended online.
Earlier, Dr Zabeer Ahmed (Director CSIR-IIIM), in his welcome address, gave a brief account of the day wise events planned during the six-day IP Festival from July 17-24, being held at various locations of Jammu, Srinagar and Leh.
Dr Kancherla Prasad (convener of the program) briefed about the crucial role of IP in Pharma industry in shaping the landscape of innovation and healthcare.
Prominent among others attended the Conference were Dr Asha Chaubey, Dr Sumit Gandhi and Dr Qazi Naveed Ahmed (HoDs), Dr Shashank Singh, Dr Sanghapal D Sawant, Dr Sheikh Tasduq Abdullah and Dr Prem Narayan Gupta (Senior Principal Scientists).
Dr Deepika Singh (Principal Scientist) conducted the proceedings while as Abdul Rahim (Head RMBD&IST Division) presented vote of thanks.
