JAMMU, Dec 16: Two-day Thalassemia camp and CME organised by J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society in collaboration with IAP City Branch Jammu concluded.
On the occasion, internationally renowned Hematologists Dr VP Choudhry, Dr JS Arora and Dr Narendra Aggarwal were the guest faculty. All the Thalassemia children registered with Thallasemia Society and Thalassemia Day Care Centre, SMGS Hospital were thoroughly examined and evaluated clinically by these experts and treatment strategies. Future planning of these patients was thoroughly discussed with pediatricians in SMGS Hospital, GMC Jammu.
This was followed by guest lectures by Dr VP Chaudhary, Director, Hematology Division Paras Hospital, Gurgaon, Dr JS Arora, general secretary National Thalassemia Welfare Society, New Delhi and Dr Narendra Aggarwal Hematologist at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, New Delhi on recent trends in diagnosis and transfusion therapy, iron chelation therapy and bone marrow transplant in Thalassemia patients respectively.
The sessions were presided by Dr Rekha Harish, HoD of Pediatrics and President IAP City Branch Jammu, Dr KK Kaul, Head of the Department of Pathology, Dr GS Saini, Prof Pediatrics GMC Jammu, Dr DB Sharma, Head Pediatrics ASCOMS, Dr Kum Kum Sharma, Head Blood Bank ASCOMS, Jammu and Dr Ashok Gupta Former Prof and Head Pediatrics GMC, Jammu.
Dr Sanjeev Digra, Asstt Prof Pediatrics and consultant In-Charge Thalassemia Day Care Centre SMGS Hospital GMC Jammu conducted the proceedings.
Earlier, Sudhir Sethi, president, J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society delivered the welcome address, whereas in the end, Dr KK Kaul delivered vote of thanks.
