Girls outshine boys in Class X, over 70% students succeed

SRINAGAR, Dec 16: Girls outshined boys in class 10th results of Kashmir province that was declared today by Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE).
Kauser Jan daughter Professor Muhammad Maqbool Rather of Iqbal Memorial Institute Bemina bagged first position by scoring 495 marks out of 500 marks (99 percent).
The second position was shared by Ritaish Raina, a Kashmiri Pandit of St Peters Institute of Academic Education, Anantnag with 494 marks (98.80 percent), Meelad Mohammad Sheikh of Tyndale Biscoe School with 494 marks (98.80 percent) and Aasima Khurshid Wani of Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School, Raj Bagh with 494 marks (98.80 percent).
The third position was shared by Bilal Yousuf of Hista Higher Secondary School Anantnag, Peerzadi Arzeena Imtiyaz of St. Peters Institute of Academic Education Anantnag, Faizan Manzoor of St Joseph’s Higher Secondary School Baramulla, Fariha Ashfaq Hamdani and Safhat Buchh of Presentation Convent Rajbagh by scoring 493 marks each.
Fourth position was jointly held by E.F.F.EMM Children School’s Bilal Yousuf Tantray with 492 marks (98.40 percent), Humaira Muzaffar of Minto Circle High School, Saiqa Khan of Presentation Convent Rajbagh and Hafsa Masood of Mallinson Girls Higher Secondary School Shiekh Bagh Srinagar respectively.
Five students shared the fifth position with 491 marks (98.20 percent). These students include Afroze Ahmad Ganaie of Government Higher Secondary School Nanil, Danish Amin of Public English Medium High School Bijbehara, Insha Farooq of Arun Public High School Natipora, Mudasir Majeed of Government High School Zongalpora and Shayan Zahoor of Presentation Convent Rajbagh.
According to the BOSE officials, 49,358 students appeared in the examination, out of which 31, 130 students have been declared successful, among which 26, 511 were boys and 22,847 were girls, 14, 432 students didn’t qualify the examination.
The overall pass percentage was of boys remained 70.58 and girls 66.82 percent. 269 students have made it to merit list in which 186 are girls while as 83 only boys.
Twenty five students of Police Public School, Bemina secured distinction in the 10th class exams.
Attributing her success to her parents, the elated first position holder, Kauser said that her belief and following tenets of his religion in letter and spirit has been a guiding light for her achievement. “I worked hard throughout the year and was optimistic that I will top. My hard work has paid,” she added.
