Srinagar, July 19: After a complaint of “indecent behaviour” by the staff was filed resulting in the attachment of the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Ganderbal, the authorities have now formed a panel tasked with investigating such complaints within the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK).
In response, the authorities have ordered the formation of a five-member panel under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act of 2013.
It has been revealed that most of the current panel members have retired, or shifted, necessitating the reconstitution of the panel. Additionally, the higher authorities have assigned the panel the responsibility of investigating the complaint against Dr Abdul Majid Bhat, the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Ganderbal, who has been attached to the DHSK pending the inquiry.
According to a communication issued by the DHSK, a team of nominated officers and officials has been directed to investigate the complaint of sexual harassment at the Directorate office.
Dr Yasmeen Kangoo, Assistant Director of DHSK, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the panel. The other members of the panel include Dr Anium Afshana, I/C Epidemiologist Kashmir; Mahjabeen, Chief Functionary of New Kashmir Women and Child Welfare Society (NGO); Rifat Ul Nisa, Law Officer NHM PC PNDT; and Anita Dhar, Senior Assistant Grievance/RTI/Vigilance.
