Public-police cooperation must in eradicating drug menace: Shoor

JAMMU, July 21: Seeking public cooperation in eradicating drug menace from society which is eating up its vitals, SDPO, Damana, Vishal Shoor today said the people have to come actively forward to rid the society of drug abuse to save the younger generation from falling a prey to it.
Participating in a debate on ill effects of drug addiction at Barnai here today which was jointly organised by Anuradhapuram, Sarswati Vihar and Sharda Colony residents in collaboration with Durga Nag Trust, he said police on its level is doing best to eradicate this menace from the society but hundred percent results are only possible with active cooperation of a vigilant and conscious society as alone police can do nothing.
Maintaining that police public trust has increased, he said that the drug menace is like termite which eats up a human being internally. He cited various reasons for drug addiction and said the greediness can be one of the main cause of the crime.
SHO Damana, Kunal Singh Jamwal also spoke on the occasion who stressed on public and police cooperation to rid the society of crime of which the drug abuse is main cause. He stressed on imbibing moral values among the children so that they can’t fall a prey to drug addiction.
Earlier secretary DNT Dr R L Dhar made the introductory address While Subash Sharma ex Sarpanch and a well known social activist of the area assured all cooperation to police while highlighting the various issues of the locality especially the flood threat being faced by people of Anuradhapuram after the blocking of a local nallah by a land grabber.
H L Bhat, BJP Seh Prabhari Kashmir in his address said that parents have to play a great role to guide their children in a proper way so that they don’t go astray and fall in bad company.
Rakesh Kaul councilor Mattan and JP leader said that drug menace has ruined the society in Kashmir as youth are being trapped by terrorist outfits towards the drug addiction to use them for terrorist activities. This has emerged a new trend in Kashmir and society has to come forward to save the younger generation. M K Jalali, president Sharika Peeth also spoke on the occasion.
