Bharat Bhushan reviews working of Jal Shakti Deptt, PWD

JAMMU, July 22: The District Development Council (DDC) of Jammu under the chairmanship of Bharat Bhushan Bodhi today reviewed the working of the Jal Shakti Department and Public Works Department (PWD) in a meeting held at the PWD guest house in Jammu.
The Vice Chairman of DDC Jammu, Suraj Singh Bhau, DDC members, Suresh Kumar, Sharda Bhau, Bhushan Bral, Prof Garu Ram Bhagat, Darminder Kumar, Taranjit Singh Tony and Shamima Begum and Chief Executive Officer of the Council, Romesh Kumar were present in the meeting.
Hamesh Manchanda, Chief Engineer of Jal Shakti Department, provided an update on the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme in Jammu district. He mentioned that the Government has allocated Rs 1282 crore for Jammu district under the JJM Scheme. Out of a total of 687 works planned, 684 have been tendered, and 666 have been assigned to contractors. He maintained that 307 works have started and till date 60 works under the JJM Scheme have been completed.
Bharat Bhushan Bodhi expressed concern over the relatively slow pace of work, with only 60 works completed to date. He underscored the need to expedite ongoing development projects to ensure the delivery of modern amenities and services to the general public.
Bharat Bhushan directed the Jal Shakti Department officials to enhance coordination and accelerate the progress of the ongoing works to fulfil the primary objective of the prestigious scheme, which is to provide tap water to every household.
In the meeting, SE Jal Shakti Department, CPO Jammu, and Executive Engineers from Divisions 1, 2, and 3 were present.
In a subsequent session, the DDC Chairman also reviewed the ongoing projects of the Public Works Department.
Prakash Chander Tanoch, Chief Engineer of PWD, briefed the Chairman about the various development works being undertaken by the Department. The Government has allocated Rs 810 crore for Jammu district, covering different areas such as district Capex, Health, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, NFB, PRI, DDC Component, SSY, Nabard, PWD, road sector, bridge sector, city and town programme, Pot Holes, Centre Road Funds, and CRF Languishing Schemes.
Expressing satisfaction with the progress in the (PWD), Bharat Bhushan directed the concerned officials to ensure the timely completion of all ongoing projects.
