JAMMU, July 22: The Core Committee of All Migrant Displaced Action Committee Camps has expressed that there is no any other representative body which is authorised to represent on behalf of All Camps viz Jagti,TRT Nagrota,Butanagar,Muthi,and Purkhoo, except the All Migrant Camp Action Committee nominated by all Migrant Camps.
In a statement issued here, today the Committee said it came into being during April this year after Government forced the camp inmates to pay electricity charges and over 6000 souls protested against the decision and ultimately they were called for a meeting by the District Administration, Relief Organisation, Power Development Corporation, wherein the District Administration and Relief Organisation has sought reasonable time to settle the issue.
The promise was made by Core Committee not to protest till then. The Core Committee has appealed the All Camps migrants, as well as the authorities that no action be taken on the representation of any other person or party on behalf of all migrant camps , other than All Migrant Camps Action Committee on the electricity issue.
Besides, the Core Committee of All Migrant Camps Action Committee has appealed the Government to immediately handover the water supply scheme to Jal Shakti Department at Jagti, as per Government orders issued during 2021 while winding up of Engineering Wing of Relief Organization, but the contractors of Water Supply Scheme for Jagti engaged during 2011, the blue eyed boys are enjoying extensions for the said contract putting Government exchequer to a loss of crores of rupees.
It said the camp inmates of Jagti are facing acute shortage of drinking water and Committee demanded a probe into the matter and the water supply be handed over to Jal Shakti Department.
Besides, members have appealed the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Migrants Jammu to personally intervene into the matter and ensure that the water supply is resumed immediately.
