SRINAGAR, July 23: National Conference president and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should speak on the Manipur situation in Parliament and the opposition should also be allowed to express its views on the matter.
Abdullah told reporters here that the whole world is talking about Manipur. “He (PM) has commented on the issue and used very strong words but he should say it in Parliament. After he speaks, he should listen to us (Opposition) also. We hope that we will be allowed to talk on this issue in Parliament. Our aim is not to criticise but express our feelings about the situation,” he said.

Asked about his views on the viral video of two Kuki women being paraded naked in Manipur, Abdullah said, Manipur is a tragedy for all of us. “It is a Doomsday situation for all Indians,” he said.
The NC president said that there are some specific people who are doing this for power. “This is being done by a specific group of people, and it is awful how hatred is being fuelled in order to acquire power,” he said.
“There is humiliation in obtaining that chair or authority for which we need to divide people. When God is one and belongs to everyone, it is up to you where you want to view him, whether you want to see him in a temple or a mosque. It is regrettable that we are separated even though God is one,” he said.
Abdullah said some people were spreading hate for power.
