JAMMU, July 25: As per the Action Plan issued by J&K Legal Services Authority (JKLSA), a training-cum-sensitization program was held for Police officers, Panel Lawyers, PLVs, members of Juvenile Justice Board and Child Welfare Committee on “Child Rights”.
Training program was presided over by Chairman District legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Jammu Sanjay Parihar and Resource Person for the program was Tahir Khurshid Raina (Special Judge Anti Corruption Jammu).
Training was held under the supervision of Secretary District legal Services Authority Jammu Smriti Sharma and was attended by Police officers mostly related to POCSO Cases, Principal Magistrate JJB along with members of JJB, Chairperson of CWC along with their members, Panel Lawyers and PLVs of District legal Services Authority Jammu.
The welcome address was given by Secretary District legal Services Authority and thereafter Chairman District legal Services Authority addressed the gathering with regard to Victim Compensation Act, Juvenile Justice Act and POCSO Act in respect with his practical experience.
Tahir Khurshid Raina, Special Judge Anti Corruption Jammu discussed various Articles for children under the Constitution of India such as—Article 14, Article 15(3), Article 21, Article 21 (A), Article 47, Article 51 A (K). He enlightened that the child has got the rights in the womb of the mother. He told that there are some key principles which are to be strictly adhered by legal services institutions for best interest of the child, welfare of the child, right to dignity, right to equality and no discrimination etc.
Tahir Khurshid Raina enlightened participants about Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO Act both in legal perspective as well as with regard to his practical experience and later on stressed upon the participants to perform their duties so that no child can suffer. He briefly explained the role of Juvenile Justice Board, Police Incharges and Child Welfare Committee to safeguard the life of the children.
He told PLVs of DLSA Jammu to spread awareness among the public at large about the child rights and their protection and available child protection services, including child friendly legal services, schemes including this NALSA Scheme which are meant for the benefit of the children and also creates awareness about the prohibition of all form of child labour up to 14 years of age and about the need of free and compulsory education to the children in between the age group of 6 to 14 years and the issues of child trafficking etc.
