JU team presents innovative UG ‘Design Your Degree’ program at KU

JAMMU, July 25: A momentous occasion unfolded at the University of Kashmir as a team of educators from University of Jammu made a detailed power point presentation on a path-breaking innovative four Year UG -Design your Degree programme.
The presentation garnered significant attention and was attended by the top officials of Kashmir University as well as Dr Yasmeen Ashai, Director Colleges, HED, Govt of J&K who gave her valuable input. The session was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof Nilofer Khan.
During the presentation, it was highlighted that an innovative program has been designed to meet the rapidly evolving demands of the modern world by encouraging interdisciplinary approach or studies and promoting creative thinking. The Design Your Degree program seeks to equip students with a well-rounded skill set that transcends the boundaries of traditional education.
The KU Vice-Chancellor, in her address, lauded the team for their dedication to fostering a standard-centric approach to education. She emphasized that Jammu University’s commitment to innovation in academia would further strengthen its position as a leading institution in the region.
At the end of the presentation, various queries were raised which were addressed satisfactorily by the JU team. The Deans and HODs from Kashmir University were equally impressed by the initiative and expressed their enthusiasm for collaborating with Jammu University on such transformative progress. They applauded the efforts to break away from the traditional model, acknowledging that this would enable students to flourish in their respective areas of interest and make a meaningful impact on society.
The interaction session concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof Farooq Ahmed Masoodi, Dean Academic Affairs Kashmir University. The team of educators from JU included Prof Naresh Padha, formerly, Dean Academic Affairs, JU; Prof Alka Sharma, Director, SIIEDC, University of Jammu and Dr Sadaf Shah, Associate Professor, Department of English.
