Association discusses issues of Ex-servicemen

JAMMU, July 25: A monthly meeting of Ex-servicemen Welfare Association of Akhnoor was held under the chairmanship of Naval veteran S Lakhbir Singh Sohal at Akhnoor today which was attended by large number of Ex-servicemen of the area.
Organized by Veteran Ragubir Singh, the meeting was presided over by Capt Santosh Kumar. Main agenda of the meeting was discussion and solution of problems like disparities in pension, implementation of OROPII, better facilities in ECHS, CSD, equality in MSP, Disability pension, Widow pension and Reserve pension.
President requested all Ex-servicemen to get united and come under banner of the association for struggle of Ex-servicemen protesting at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.
S Lakhbir Singh, in his address, said that recruitment in ECHS should be purely for Ex-servicemen and their dependents including Veer Naaris. He also appealed to the Civil administration of JKUT to entertain Ex-servicemen on priority basis in Govt offices.
With regard to the alleged harassment of senior Ex-servicemen in ECHS, Chairman said that he along with a delegation of the Association held a meeting with Officer In-Charge ECHS Policlinic Akhnoor and apprised him about the grievances.
