Dilution of OBC status unacceptable: AIBCF

JAMMU, July 25: In a joint protest was held by OBC Mahasabha, All India Backward Classes Federation and All J&K Welfare Forum of Srinagar and presidents of different castes and communities/ biradris under the banner of OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra.

During the protest Kasturi Lal Basotra, Chairman OBC Mahasabha condemned the attitude of Modi Govt as the BJP has betrayed from its promise made in 2014 at Mulana Azad Stadium Jammu and at Hiranagar during the Assembly elections of Jammu & Kashmir and also in 2019. Instead of implementing 27% reservation in JK-UT Govt, services as per Supreme of India Judgment on Mandal Commission report , the Modi Govt started diluting the OSC/OBC reservation in JK-UT by inducting some other castes people in it.
Faquir Chand Satia , president AIBCF detailed during the protest that the Modi Govt constituted a Socially and Educationally Backward Classes Commission in March 2020 by appointing Justice GD Sharma as its Chairman and two Non-OBC members. It was done with the intension to dilute the OSC/OBC reservation.
Mohd Shabir Sambiyal, president Dhobi Welfare Central Committee detailed during the protest that in the recruitment of Professors/ Assistant Professors/ Associate Professors in Jammu University the Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University as adopted the discriminatory way of OBC reservation under the influence of BJP by giving only 2% reservation in the recently advertised posts instead of 27% as per UNIVERSITY GRANTS COMMISSION norms. Moreover, the OBC Scholars in this University are facing discrimination during PhD after the submission of PhD .
Prominent among those who joined the protest included Shashi Verma president Pardesh Vishwkarma Sabha, Madan Lal Chalotra senior leader of OBC Samaj, Bishan Dass Dogra, Jagdish Pandey OBC Mahasabha; Raj Kumar Chalotra- Vishwkarma Sabha, Raj Kumar Sodi, Sain Dass, Manohar Lal Tidyal, Bansi Lal Choudhary, Arjit Kumar Kashyap, Bansi Lal Gumbal, Ravi Kumar Dogra, Madan Lal Baldotra and Kewal Fotra.
