RAMBAN, July 25: Cops here today recovered the dead body of a driver under suspicious circumstances from a gorge at Khooni Nallah area of Ramsoo on Jammu Srinagar National Highway.
Sources said that the driver of a truck bearing registration JK02AQ-7781 might have died on spot after he accidentally slipped into a deep gorge near Khooni Nalla.
The parked truck was found loaded with bovine animals.
Police said after receiving information rescue teams and Police reached the spot and retrieved the body from the gorge and shifted it to PHC Ramsoo for identification.
The deceased has been identified as Ashiq Ali, son of Musa, resident of Zard, Krimchi Mansar area of Udhampur.
Police said after post-mortem and other legal formalities at PHC Ramsoo the body was handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
SHO Police Station Ramsoo, Inspector Saroop Singh said prima facie it appears that the driver had died due to fall into the gorge.
“However, inquest proceedings were imitated at Police Station Ramsoo for asserting the actual cause of death,” he maintained.
