JAMMU, July 25: During a special drive today, nearly eight kanals of Forest land was retrieved from the possession of encroachers in Kalidhar Range of Jammu Forest Division.
Official sources said that the the sand land had been grabbed by one Tara Chand, son of Shatu Ram, and his family members, residents of Jallara (Chowki Choura), falling in Forest Compartment No 36/K of Panjgrain Block of Forest Range Kalidhar of Jammu Forest Division.
The eviction drive was led by Pawan Sharma, Range Officer Kalidhar, under the supervision of DFO Jammu, Anup Soni. Police assistance was also sought during operation. A hut (Kulla) and a semi-constructed water tank was also dismantled during operation. Tough resistance was faced by the Forest field staff during the course of action and after few hours of hectic efforts the eviction drive was successfully conducted.
Police assistance was provided by SDPO, Akhnoor Mohan Lal Sharma and the entire operation carried out in the presence of Duty Magistrate Sham Lal, Naib Tehsildar Ghar-Majoor.
