JAMMU, July 26: Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Jammu, organised Plant Adoption Drive in the lawns of University of Jammu.
The drive was organised in collaboration with the Arboriculture and Landscaping Unit, Department of Environmental Sciences, Green Campus Task Force and NSS Unit III of the University of Jammu.
The purpose of the drive was to give experiential learning and develop a sense of belongingness and sensitivity among students towards nature. The saplings planted and adopted by the students included Amrapali Mango, Amla, Loquat and hybrid Jamun. Around thirty-five student volunteers participated in the drive and thereafter took a pledge of Panchpran.
Among those who were present during the adoption drive, included Prof Piyush Malaviya, Convener of Arboriculture and Landscaping Unit and Head Department of Environmental Sciences; Dr Seema Rohmetra, Incharge Director , Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies; Dr Deepika Slathia, Member Secretary GCTF-JU, Dr Rakesh Kumar, Dr Monika Bhardwaj, PO NSS, Dr Meghna Dhar, PO NSS, Dr Sapna Sangra, Dr Rajneesh Khajuria, Dr Nitan Sharma , Ajmer Singh, Land Development officer and his team.
