DDC Udhampur Vice-Chairperson for nurturing facilities around Devika

UDHAMPUR, July 27: Juhi Manhas Pathania, Vice Chairperson District Development Council, Udhampur today underscored the need for developing site seeing facilities around Devika while it passes outside Udhampur as well.
While interacting with a deputation of villages flanking the historical township of Udhampur, she said that people of Udhampur are thankful to the Bharat Sarkar as well as local MP for sanctioning a mega project for District Udhampur and a major amount of the project is being used for developing/nurturing sewerage facilities in Udhampur town.
Visiting deputation underscored the need for expanding the scope of developmental activities around The Holy Devika while it meanders through the flanks of Udhampur. She further called for nurturing state-of-art facilities, may it be Nainsoo, Battal Balian, Manpa, Dhanouri, Badali, villages. The Ghats and ancient temples have always been a prime source of tourism and attract thousands of devotees.
A deputation of Shiv Mandir Committee, Nainsoo, called upon the Vice Chairperson for directing the district administration to provide support for organising annual Dangal and ‘Baisakhi Mela’ at Shiv Mandir Nainsoo. Also they called for funds to construct protection work to protect the holy Shiv temple from landslides. They also called for developing a stadium (indoor as well as outdoor block) benefitting the local populace of the area.
She took up these issues with the concerned departments and instructed them to provide viable solutions to the people.
The deputations raised various issues and demands regarding water, electricity, sports, educational, health , infrastructure amenities including demand for electric poles, water supply and immediate repairing of hand pumps. Also during the on-going heatwave many hand pumps are out of order for so many weeks. She called upon the Groundwater Deptt to repair out-of-order pumps. She also vied for regular tanker service in dry, arid areas reeling under acute drinking water scarcity. She also called for crash measures for coping with water scarcity in these areas. She further called for liaison between the civil and mechanical wing of Jal Shakti Deptt so that proper supply of water is made available to the people in these days of scorching heat.
She also called upon the Department of JPDCL to ensure that not even a single minute power cut outside the curtailment schedule should occur as this slip short electricity supply affects the medical operations, drinking water supply, construction activities and local trade system.
