3 peddlers arrested in Handwara, Bandipora

Srinagar, July 31: Police today arrested 3 drug peddlers in Handwara and Bandipora and recovered contraband as well as psychotropic substances from their possession.
In Handwara, a police party of PS Qalamabad at a checkpoint established at Shartgund Bala intercepted 2 suspicious persons who attempted to evade the police party but were apprehended tactfully, police said.
“They have been identified as Zayeem Ahmad Ganie son of Gh Mohd resident of Haril and Mohd Hussain Bhat son of Ab Gafar resident of Maratgam.”
As per police, during the search, 70 grams of Charas-like substance was recovered from their possession. “They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody.”
In Bandipora, a police party of PS Pethkote at a checkpoint established at Pazalpora Bandipora intercepted and arrested a drug peddler identified as Ashiq Hussain Bhat son of Gh Rasool Bhat resident of Nowpora Ward No.01 Bandipora, police said.
“During the search, psychotropic substances (Tramadol & Alprazolam capsules) were recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody.”
