CRPF’s 166 Bn celebrates 19th Raising Day

JAMMU, Aug 1: The 166th Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) celebrated its Raising Day with full fervour at Sidhra, Jammu, and District Headquarters, Banihal in Ramban District.
A statement said that the Battalion was raised on August 1, 2004 at GC Nagpur. Since then, the unit has been deployed in various theatres of the country including Pulwama and Shopian in Kashmir Valley.
At unit headquarters Sidhra and Banihal, Hargyan Singh Gurjar, Commandant 166 Battalion, Suresh Kumar, second-in-command (admin), Naveen Kumar Yadav, second-in-command (ops), Sangeeta Chauhan, Deputy Commandant, Neeraj Kumar Jha, Deputy Commandant, and other officers and jawans paid floral tributes to the martyrs at Shaheed Smarak.
Hargyan Singh Gurjar, Commandant, took the salute from the guard and addressed the unit personnel in Sainik Sammelan.
He motivated the troops to maintain highest professional standards during their duties and asked them to work with full devotion and dedication to serve the nation. He appreciated all the personnel for their consistent hard work and devotion to secure the NH44 and ensure smooth conduct of Shri Amarnathji Yatra thus far.
Meanwhile, 58 personnel were awarded the Commendation Certificates on the occasion for their praise worthy contribution in their respective fields.
Sports activities and cultural programs were also organised for the jawans in the evening.
