SAMBA, Dec 20: R.K. Varma, DDC Samba/ Chairman District Water and Sanitation Mission today inaugurated the advocacy workshop for media and allied departments organized by National Development Foundation (NDF), Jammu with support from Communication and Capacity Development Unit, Water and Sanitation Support Organization, Deptt. of PHE Irrigation and Flood Control, organized at Conference Hall DC Office, Samba.
Speaking on the occasion DDC Samba RK Varma said that the water sector is facing daunting challenges due to urbanization, industrialization and huge demand for Agriculture sector and every person has the basic right to demand drinking water. DDC exhorted upon the officers present to extend all possible support and cooperation to National Development Foundation in carrying out support activities and Water quality Monitoring Surveillance Programmed (WQMSP) in district Samba for achieving desired results under NRDWP and stressed upon the need to provide every rural person with adequate safe water for drinking, cooking and other domestic basic needs on a sustainable basis. He said that the basic requirement should meet minimum water quality standards and be readily and conveniently accessible to all rural households.
He assured the full cooperation of District Administration Samba to National Development Foundation in implementation of IEC activities. He directed the District and Sectoral Officers to effectively support the implementation of IEC and training activities under NRDWP. He also ordered a committee comprising of SE Hydraulic as chairman, CF NDF as member secretary with CEO Samba, CMO Samba, XEN PHE Samba, DPO Samba, DSWO as members. He desired that this committee should formulate the action plan and circulate to all departments and stakeholders.
Earlier Rajiv Khajuria, Chief Functionary, National Development Foundation gave a detailed presentation on support activities of NRDWP which are assigned to NDF for Jammu, Samba and Kathua. He thanked DDC Samba for ensuring the participation of all allied departments.
