SAMBA, Aug 3: Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh today held anti-drug meet at District Police Headquarters, here which was attended by prominent social workers, retired police and CRPF officers, PRIs, and police officers including Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary and DySP Operations, Samba, Garu Ram.
During the meeting detailed discussion was held on the work done by Samba Police on anti-drug front but more is required to be done by police. Public speakers put forth their valuable suggestions and assured the police that they would extend fullest possible assistance to police in their drive against drugs, especially deadly heroin which has taken several precious lives in the past.
After threadbare discussion on the issue of drug abuse, a new strategy has been chalked out to cope with the drug menace in Samba district and it has been decided to constitute secret committees at village level to keep hawk’s eye on the activities of suspected heroin suppliers and to get them nabbed by police red-handed.
At the meeting Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh appealed to the prominent social workers, retired police and CRPF officers and other prominent persons to rein-in drug addicts and get heroin suppliers apprehended through police whenever found operating anywhere in Samba district any time. SSP Samba said that handsome cash rewards would be given away to the persons providing information regarding sale of heroin in Samba district and name of the informer would be kept secret.
