SPMR Commerce College conducts activities under GoI’s campaigns

JAMMU, Aug 3: NSS unit of Govt SPMR College of Commerce, NCC and Eco Club today organized different activities under “Meri Mati Mera Desh” and “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, the two major campaigns of the Government of India.
Playing its role towards sustainable eco-system, the faculty members of the College and NSS volunteers under the patronage of Principal Dr Surinder Kumar planted saplings of different varieties. Principal appealed to the students to leave no stone unturned to improve the green cover and protect the environment not only in the college but in their respective areas.
Faculty members present on the occasion were Prof Barbara Koul, Prof Savita Jamwal, Prof Shafqat Jahangir, Dr Monika Malhotra, Dr Sandhya Bharadwaj, Prof Deepshikha Sharma, Dr Shipra Gupta, Dr Sarbjeet Kour, Dr Deepak Pathania, Prof Apfan Ali, Dr Fayza, Prof Harpreet Kour, Prof Rajni Bala and Malik Aijaz.
While addressing the students and volunteers, Prof Deepskhikha Sharma said that every tree is a living legacy and trees are an investment for the future generations.
On the occasion, Panch Pran Pledge taking ceremony was also conducted to highlight the five resolves of Prime Minister. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Barbara Koul, HoD Commerce said that the primary focus of organizing this program was to improve all of humankind which is the fabric of Indian culture.
The college also organized a cultural program and singing competition in which students presented cultural performances and patriotic songs. NSS POs Prof Deepshikha Sharma and Prof Apfan Ali coordinated and managed the whole event.
