JAMMU, Aug 3: Chief Electoral Officer, J&K today disqualified two BJP Councillors from the Membership of Municipal Committee Ghou Manhasan in Marh Sub Division of Jammu district.
The action was taken by the CEO against these two BJP Councillors for violating party whip and voting in favour of Congress Councillor, Ram Pal for ensuring his win as Vice President of the Municipal Committee Ghou Manhasan.
Chief Whip of the party and former MC President, Rajinder Singh Chib had filed complaint against these two BJP Councillors, Jatinder Singh from Ward No. 6 and Krishan Lal from Ward No. 5. Out of seven wards, at five wards BJP had secured win while two went in favour of Congress Party.
The CEO after hearing both the sides, initiating action under Section 18-C of the Act, disqualified Jatinder Singh and Krishan Lal Councillors from the Membership of Municipal Committee Ghou Manhasan.
Meanwhile, BJP general secretary Dr DK Manyal said that no action has been by the party against them so far as no communication has been received from the office of Chief Electoral Officer, J&K as yet.
