MUMBAI, Dec 21: An english business news channel and India’s guide to the auto industry Autocar India magazine, presented the 6th edition of the ‘Autocar India Awards 2013-14′ here last night.
The winners were felicitated at a ceremony with Union Cabinet Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dr M Verrappa Moily and Gajendra Haldea, Advisor, DCH (Infrastructure), Planning Commission.
A total of 24 awards were given across the two and four wheeler segments.
Speaking the event Hormazd Sorabjee, Editor – Autocar India said,’the awards celebrates the best products of the year across the automobile industry. Today Indian customers have a choice of the best cars and it is hard to find a sub-standard vehicle. That makes the competition event tougher for us to judge.’
At the awards, in the four-wheeler segment, Ford Ecosport won both ‘Car of the Year (Jury’s Choice)’ and ‘Viewer’s Choice Car of the Year’, while Honda won ‘Manufacturer of the Year’.
In the two wheeler segment, KTM 390 Duke won ‘Bike ofthe Year (Jury’s Choice)’, and Mahindra Centuro won the ‘Viewer’s Choice Bike of the Year’.
The ‘Technology and Innovation award’ was given to Ford for their Sync with emergency assist, while the ‘Engine of the Year’ went to Ford 1.0 Eco Boost (Ford Ecosport).
The awards were given away by Dr Moily, Haldea and India’s first Formula 1 Driver Narain Karthikeyan. (AGENCIES)
