JAMMU, Aug 6: To revive this traditional and Vedic form of prayers, Henzay Vanvun (reciting) classes have been conducted in migrant and non migrant habitats of Kashmiri Pandits here.
Pushkar Nath Raina of Laryar a social activist and a writer who has taken onus to it said after the mass exodus Henzay -the traditional form of prayers especially made during the marriage and Yagnopavit ceremonies in Kashmir has gone to oblivion as the community got scattered in different parts of the country. He said he started Henzay Vanvun (singing) after decoding it.  Though Henzey as per practice was being recited by women having mastery over it, Raina being a male made a research on the subject and its recitation also. He started teaching at Purkhu migrant camp first.
Raina said that the Henzay Vanvun is a store house of KPs Sanskars and is sung by an expert women at the time of performing Sanskars. It is called Samveda as well and has come down verbally from generation to generation.
He said around 1925 a woman Tara Devi of Srinagar, a saint of high order made a forecast that a terrible disaster has to happen in Kashmir and Kashmiri Pandits will suffer. People requested her for the remedy and she said continuing Henzay Vanvun in future can only ensure safety of future generations of Hindus of Kashmir.
She also got it printed in book form.
Raina said as such he has taken her orders to teach and save the community and invite all community members to join the classes so that this ancient traditional form of prayers does not go in oblivion and it is saved for generations to come.
