Tourism sector being ignored in Jammu region: Rattan Lal

UDHAMPUR Aug 7: J&K National Conference today launched a scathing attack against the present dispensation for its hollow claims with regard to the unprecedented development witnessed in the Tourism sector.
Addressing a meeting of party functionaries of District Udhampur Rural, Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial president JKNC Jammu said Tourism is an essential pillar of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy, contributing significantly to its growth and employment opportunities. He said that the Government’s assertions regarding its efforts to boost Tourism Industry have failed to materialize in any tangible outcomes.
Gupta questioned the LG Administration that how much tourists visited the Jammu region, excluding the famous Mata Vaishno Devi and Baba Amarnath Shrine, in the past year. He questioned the government’s efforts in enhancing Tourism in the area by stating that the current administration has failed to create infrastructure for the development of tourism in the region.
He alleged that Administration failed to create a religious circuit in Jammu despite the presence of several religious places across the region. Despite many revered sites such as Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Sarthal Devi Mata, Machail Mata, Sukrala Mata, Shiv Khori, Purmandal, Utterbehni, Krimchi Temple, Shahdra Shariefand many others, the government has not capitalized on the potential of these religious circuits to boost Tourism in the Jammu region, he said.
NC leader said that several Tourist places like Patnitop, Sanasar, Mansar, Surinsar, Bani, Sarthal, Bhaderwah, Jayee, Paddri, Dudu-Basatgarh, Pancheri, Peer Ki Gali, Noori Chhamb, the seven lakes at Poonch- Rajouri, Suchetgarh and others, which have the capacity to boost tourism in Jammu region. He asked the LG Administration to clarify the infrastructure developments made in these tourist attractions.
Provincial president emphasized the victory of National Conference in the upcoming ULB and Panchayat polls as the solution to every problem.
The meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Ram Parshotam Sharma, District president Udhampur Rural, who also briefed the senior functionaries about the hardships being faced by the people of Ramnagar, Cheanni and other rural far flung areas of district  Udhampur.
Mir Qasim Wani, retired Sub Inspector of J&K Police of Basantgarh, Shah Ali of Chenani and Aryan Jamwal of Udhampur along with their supporters joined NC on this occasion.
