DSS demands curbs on drug menace

JAMMU, Aug 7: Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) here today under the chairmanship of Gulchain Singh Charak, DSS president held a meeting with its prominent members at Rahya.
Many youth and people from adjoining areas also joined the meeting while prominent DSS members from central body who participated were Col. Karan Singh, vice president, Jagdeep Singh, Chhankar Singh, Vidya Sagar Sharma and others.
Various issues were raised by the locals and these were discussed.
It was resolved that drug menace has emerged as a serious problem in whole of Kandi belt and border areas and the parents are worried about their upcoming generations.
“This belt has been known for its brave hearts in Indian army and security forces but now the youth here are getting increasingly lured and trapped through a vicious game plan of enemies of the country by making them drug addicts,” speakers in the meeting said.
Rahya chapter of DSS demanded strict and quick action against those involved in drug menace.
They also said that link roads leading to rural areas are in dilapidated condition and need immediate repair.
The issue of unemployment among the youth was also discussed and it was resolved that the Government must initiate special recruitment drive for the youth.
Revival of Dogra Certificate was also demanded for the youth of Jammu region so that they may get necessary relaxation in height and other things during recruitment in belt forces.
