Pensioners, senior citizens list demands

SRINAGAR, Aug 7: A meeting of Pensioners &Senior Citizens Welfare Society and People’s Revolutionary Welfare Society was held at Kangan today under the chairmanship of tehsil secretary of the organsiation, Abdul Rehman Hajam in which various demands were discussed.
It expressed concern over price hike of essential commodities which are sky rocking breaking the back of poor people, growing unemployment in the UT, non availability of ration on fair price stores of Government which has added to sufferings of poor, delay in regularization of daily wagers, temporary workers and Anganwadi workers, delay in filling up of vacant posts in various Government departments and high handedness of Traffic Police.
The meeting expressed concern over the delay in construction of Gandcerbal Power House and demanded immediate resumption of work on the project.
While discussing the cases of old age pensioners and widows, it demanded that these cases be finalized without delay and pension of deserving people be released forth with.
It expressed concern that the Government pensioners have not been considered for enhancement of pension from the age of 65 years as some states have already granted enhancement and demanded Rs 1000 Medical Allowance per month for pensioner and Government employees.
The meeting was addressed by  Mir Gh Rasool Botvani, president J&K, Sheikh Gh Mohiudin Shilvati general secretary, Gh Nabi Prangi, vice president, Noor Mohd Sheikh, district president, Gannderbal, Syed Mohd Chasti district secretary, Mohd Subhan Dar, patron district , Master Mohd Subhan Magray, Haji Gh Mohd Bhat and Mukhtar Ahmad Bazaz, organiser UT J&K. Gh Mohi ud Din Buhroo, D N Sadhu, State secretary, P N Raina and Mohd Sultan Mir also addressed in virtual mood.
