Commerce college organises ‘Angdaan Mahotsav’

Jammu, Aug 7: NSS Units of Govt. SPMR College of Commerce organized “Angdaan Mahotsav” under the banner of ‘Meri Matti Mera Desh’ and ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, an initiative of Govt. of India.
The main objective of the programme was to spreadawareness among the students about the importance of donating organs and tissues to give new lives to the people in need.
Dr. Surinder Kumar, Principal of the college elaborated that everyone should donate organs as well as make general public aware in order to dispel myths and misconceptions associated with organ donation. He said, “we should imbibe the values of organ donation and transplantation as it can save the life of a person in need”.
On the occasion, students and staff of the college took a pledge to donate organs. The pledge was read out by Manisha Kumari of B.Com Sem. 4th both in English and Hindi. A signature campaign on “We Pledge to Donate Our Organs” was also initiated in the college.
The whole programme was coordinated and managed by Prof. Deepshikha Sharma and Prof Apfan Ali, NSS POs of the college. Other faculty members present on the occasion were Prof. Barbara Kaul, HoD Commerce, Prof Savita Jamwal, HoD Economics, Dr. Parveen Singh, Dr. Deepak Pathania and Malik Aijaz Iqbal.
