Kathua police arrests 2 involved in yesterday’s firing incident

KATHUA, Aug 8: Kathua police arrested two persons including one J&K Police personnel involved in a firing incident at Chak Sajjan NHW, in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS), Kathua and seized one Desi Katta (weapon of offence) from their possession.
Police said today on the complaint of one person namely Bhushan Singh, son of late Kaku Ram of Chak Sajjan tehsil and district Kathua stated that when he was working in his Dhaba situated at Chak Sajjan, NHW Kathua two persons namely Joginder Singh, son of Hari Singh of Rajpura, Samba and Balwinder Singh, son of Jaswant Singh of Chak Ram Chand, Kathua came at his Dhaba and asked him for meals. When he gave them a meal, they started abusive language with his workers, he added.
He said when one of his worker objected to this, they slapped him. However he caught them. But they opened Pistol and fired upon him, the complainant added.
He said thereafter, they locked the workers in the room and started beating me (owner of the shop) with lathis and constantly beat him till the police party reached the spot. Moreover, complainant verbally stated that, the duo fired upon him with a pistol with a criminal intention in order to kill him for which a Case FIR No. 340/2023 U/s 451/307/323/504/506 IPC, 3/27 Arms Act stand registered at this PS Kathua.
Taking cognizance of the matter the police party swung into the action and during the course of investigation, police team led by SHO, PS Kathua, Inspector, Sudhir Sadhotra assisted by IC PP, Hatli, PSI, Swaran Singh under the guidance of DySP Headquarters, Kathua Manjeet Singh successfully arrested two persons namely Joginder Singh (J&K Police employee), son of Hari Singh of Rajpura, Samba and Balwinder Singh (Ex Serviceman), son of Jaswant Singh of Chak Ram Chand, Kathua and on their further disclosure.
Hunt is going on to arrest third person who managed to escape and was also involved in the case, police said.
Kathua police urged the public to continue cooperating and sharing any valuable information that could help in curbing illegal/criminal activities and emphasized that nobody will be exempted whether it is police personnel or civilians all are facing legal consequences for their actions.
